Doctoral Researcher Positions, Doctoral Programme in Immunology (Immu Docs)

Doctoral Programme in Immunology at the University of Turku invites applications for fixed‑term Doctoral Researcher positions. The application period runs from 2 March to 16 March 2026.

The position can begin on 1 June 2026 at the earliest, or at a mutually agreed date in 2026. The contract will end no later than 31 December 2027, with a maximum duration of four years.

The Immu Docs programme provides in‑depth training in immunology, covering basic and applied research, drug development, diagnostics, and technology development. It is closely affiliated with the national InFLAMES Flagship, giving participants access to a broad academic, clinical, and industry network.

• Conduct research as part of your doctoral dissertation under the supervision of an appointed faculty member.
• Analyse data, critically interpret results, and communicate findings to the scientific community and the public.
• Prepare and present research plans, progress reports, and final dissertation within the defined schedule.
• Collaborate with the Immu Docs community and participate in interdisciplinary projects.
• Contribute to teaching duties proportionally (up to 5% of annual working time).

• Right to study for a doctoral degree in the Doctoral Programme in Immunology at the University of Turku (necessary for starting the position).
• Planning to pursue or currently pursuing your first doctoral degree.
• Residence in Finland; place of work is Turku.
• Independent researcher with strong group‑working skills.
• Fluency in written and spoken English.
• No prior full‑time four‑year doctoral funding or completion of a doctoral degree.
• Eligibility to hold a residence permit for Finland (where required).

• Proof of right to study in the Doctoral Programme in Immunology (when applicable).
