The increasing use of AI-based functionalities in IoT devices and systems opens entirely new attack surfaces against future digital infrastructures. We are looking for a talented and motivated researcher to investigate novel security threats posed by the increased use of AI with the goal of developing technical solutions for managing and mitigating security risks arising from the use of AI-based system components.

Doctoral researchers are expected to conduct high-quality research as members of a larger research group, to publish their findings in the key scientific forums of the field and publications and take courses required for the doctoral degree.

• a master’s degree in a suitable scientific field (cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, software technology, mathematics, etc.)
• good communication skills and the ability to produce high‑quality scientific texts in English. Proficiency in Finnish is considered an advantage.
• to be highly motivated to perform doctoral studies and willingness and perseverance to work on challenging research questions
• ability and willingness to develop your skills and capability to take initiative and perform independent research work
• team working skills and ability to work as a member of interdisciplinary and international research teams for advancing common research goals

Prior experience in cybersecurity, AI algorithms, machine learning, applied AI, empirical research and software development are considered a benefit.

The tasks of a Doctoral Researcher focus on research aiming at the completion of a doctoral thesis, doctoral studies, assisting teaching tasks, and other related tasks to these.

The duties, qualification requirements, and the language skills of Doctoral Researchers are stipulated bythe University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines (Doctoral Students). A good command of English is required. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.

The eligible candidate has, or is about to obtain, a suitable Master's degree. In addition, the Doctoral Researcher must havea permission for post-graduate studies at the University of Jyväskylä. If the applicant does not have permission for post-graduate studies, it must beapplied with a separate application procedure from the IT Facultyafter selection for the position.
