METRC Quality Assurance (Project Management) The Opportunity
Quality Assurance (QA) in a vertically integrated cannabis operation plays a critical role in ensuring that every stage of production from cultivation of the plants to processing, packaging, and distribution meets strict quality standards and complies with all regulatory requirements. A QA employee acts as the guardian of product safety and consistency, implementing and overseeing procedures that guarantee compliant, high-quality cannabis products for consumers.
The role will require use of METRC for seed-to-sale tracking and Distru.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to tribal and state cannabis regulations (e.g., MLB DCR and MN OCM).
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Review, enforce, keep SOPs up-to-date, ensure staff follows them.
- Quality Control & Testing: Review Certificates of Analysis (COAs), approve or reject product batches, assist with QA at case level, verify packaging and labeling accuracy.
- Documentation & Traceability: Maintain accurate records: batch logs, sanitation logs, equipment calibration, training records, full traceability from seed to sale; arrange scale calibrations and certifications.
- Sanitation & Environmental Monitoring: Implement and monitor cleaning schedules, pest control, equipment maintenance; conduct swab tests, ensure compliance with hygiene standards.
- Internal Audits & Continuous Improvement: Conduct regular audits, identify non-conformances, lead investigations, implement CAPA.
- Complaint Handling & Recalls: Manage product complaints, quarantine recalled products, maintain systems for consumer safety and regulatory reporting.
- Serves and works with others by building relationships.

- Minimum of 2 years of experience in inventory control, quality assurance, compliance, or a related operational role.
- Hands‑on experience with METRC or similar traceability systems required.
- Experience working in a regulated industry (cannabis, food, pharma, agriculture, or laboratory environment) strongly preferred.
- Prior experience with SOPs, audits, COA review, or QA documentation is highly desirable.
- Experience in the cannabis field preferred.
- Must be able to secure license from Regulatory Agency.
- Responsible for following all relevant Cannabis Regulations.
- Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.
- Superior technical and communication skills.
- Must be able to apply common sense understanding to a variety of situations, collect data, analyze facts, and determine an appropriate response.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to climb ladder, carrying 40 lbs at times.
- Must have attention to detail and repetitive work.
- Must be capable of interpreting regulations and assessing compliance.
- Indoor cultivation facility with controlled temperatures and humidity levels.
- Exposure to strong odors and varying noise levels.
- Collaborative team environment with communication between multiple departments.
- Adherence to safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
