Summary of Position
Love plants, fresh air, and making the City look amazing? Join our Coon Rapids seasonal gardening team and help Bunker Hills bloom brighter than ever! Under the direction of the Golf Pro/Manager, the temporary seasonal Gardener is responsible for assisting with golf facility creation and maintenance of ornamental plant and flower beds. Bunker Hills Golf Club is a premier destination nestled in beautiful Bunker Hills Regional Park in Coon Rapids is seeking candidates to join our team this summer!
Position will work between 8-16 hours per week.
Anticipated Hiring Rate: $12.00/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
- Assists in the planting and maintenance of perennials, annuals, grasses, bulbs and shrubs.
- Assists is gardening work such as pruning, fertilizing, mulching, dividing, deadheading, etc.
- Assist in employing display bed management practices including irrigation and weed control.
- Regular and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours and outside regular hours as necessary.
- Provides effective and respectful communication and interactions with other employees, supervisors, individuals from other organizations, and citizen customers.
- Maintains positive professional working relationships with all staff levels, other jurisdictions and outside agencies and the general public.
- Follows oral and written instructions such as supervisor's work orders and equipment operation manuals.
- Performs essential position duties and responsibilities under the working conditions and physical demands described herein.
- Performs other related functions as apparent or delegated.
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- Familiarity with local and ornamental plant and flower species.
- Knowledge of standard methods, practices, tools, and equipment used in developing and maintaining plant and flower beds.
- Ability to use gardening tools effectively (hand trowel, pruning shears, garden spade, etc.).
- Ability to effectively communicate using a two-way radio.
- Ability to work cooperatively with City personnel, external vendors, and the public.
- Ability to perform duties with tact and discretion.
- Ability to be detail oriented and follow through with tasks.
- Ability to maintain a team and service oriented approach to work.
- Must have the ability to accept constructive criticism or discipline in a positive manner, initiating self-development to improve job performance.
- Must strive to promote a cooperative atmosphere in the department and exhibit a positive attitude.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to the following:
- Two years of experience performing garden work.
- Understanding of the aesthetic presentation of plants, flowers, and garden design.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
