- Provide advanced nursing care to adult patients with acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions.
- Perform assessments, diagnoses, develop and implement treatment plans, and manage patient care.
- Conduct thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
- Diagnose and manage chronic illnesses such as hypertension, diabetes, COPD, heart disease, and other internal medicine conditions.
- Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests including labs, imaging, and screenings.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including prescribing medications and therapies in accordance with state laws and organizational policies.
- Provide patient education on disease prevention, health promotion, and management of chronic conditions.
- Monitor and evaluate patient progress and response to treatment, adjusting plans as necessary.
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare providers to coordinate care.
- Document all patient encounters, treatments, and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and stay current with evidence‑based practices in internal medicine.
- Maintain compliance with regulatory and organizational standards for patient care.
- Master’s or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- If APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995, a master’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- Experience in internal medicine or related adult primary care setting preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice.
- Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
- State Controlled Substance License (if required by State).
- National board certification as a Family (FNP‑BC) or FNP‑C, Adult‑Gerontology Primary Care (AGPCNP‑BC) or AG‑NP, Adult (ANP‑C). Additional certifications require approval from a market executive leader:
Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care (AGACNP‑BC) or ACNPC‑AG), Acute Care Adult (ACNP‑BC). - Obtains and subsequently maintains required specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form.
