Substitute Nurse - Delano Public Schools

Description: Delano Public School District is seeking substitute RN's / LPN's with an interest in promoting health and safety in our schools.

Responsibilities
  • Perform school nurse functions in accordance with Minnesota Department of Health Recommendations and as required by Delano Public Schools.
  • Document daily health office visits, student concerns, parent and staff conversations in Skyward.
  • Assess injured students and staff and provide first aid as needed.
  • Contact parent or guardian of students if injury requires monitoring or follow-up beyond the school day.
  • Assess and evaluate students with complaints of illness.
  • Identify any health problems and relate concerns to parent/guardian.
  • Determine if the student is well enough to return to class or contact parent/guardian to make plans for the remainder of the day.
  • Prepare and administer prescription medications according to health care provider orders and as requested by parents.
  • Provide medication Permission Form for Medication Administration to parents.
  • Follow emergency care plans and procedures.
  • Be able to respond to emergency situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student's health concerns, sharing only that information necessary to assure student safety and as needed to provide for student education.
  • Perform procedures and treatments in accordance with Health Care Providers.
  • Account for all students that are absent.
  • Make telephone calls to parent/guardian of students that are absent without explanation.
  • Provide education and counseling to students, staff, and parents as opportunities arise.
  • Make assessment and referrals for suspected child abuse/neglect as a mandated reporter.
  • Attend field trips as needed.
  • Help track illnesses.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal and/or District Nurse.
Requirements

Must hold a current RN or LPN License and CPR Certification

Pay

Pay Rate: $23.66 - $29.66 per hour based on license and education
