Job Overview

Fairview is hiring an Administrative Nursing Supervisor (ANS) – RN at the Northland Medical Center in Princeton, MN. The Northland Medical Center is located on Hwy 169 and serves the broad community of Princeton and surrounding areas. The ANS role provides administration and management 24/7, directing the delivery of patient care, ensuring operational efficiency, and stewarding resources for a positive patient experience.

Schedule and Compensation

• 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks)

• 12‑hour night shift with every third weekend (F,S,S) rotation and a holiday rotation.

• Hourly rate: $52.00 – $75.11.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the representative of hospital administration.
  • Investigate patient, family, physician, and staff concerns; refer situations to appropriate resources.
  • Evaluate unusual or inappropriate incidents on hospital premises; take prompt action to maintain a safe environment.
  • Inform on‑call administrators and managers of resolved or pending problems and actions taken.
  • Give direction to other departments in the absence of their manager to assure delivery of patient care.
  • Respond to media and law enforcement inquiries and refer them to suitable resources.
  • Maintain patient rights in accordance with the Minnesota Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Manage human resources and finances during assigned shift to maintain quality service, positive employee relations, and fiscal expectations.
  • Facilitate inter/intra‑departmental problem solving and encourage first‑party communication.
  • Implement and communicate HR policies and procedures fairly and consistently.
  • Monitor performance of nursing personnel from outside agencies and relay information to appropriate staff.
  • Assist with fiscal management of resources within budgetary guidelines.
  • Respond to and resolve system, staff, and physician issues, triaging to operational managers when necessary.
  • Provide regular updates to Department Managers or Directors about unit or system issues.
  • Contribute to employee issues and performance appraisals consistent with hospital policies.
  • Apply clear decision‑making processes for routine and emergency problem resolution.
  • Support staff in utilizing their own problem‑solving abilities.
  • Allocate daily staffing resources in collaboration with the Staffing Office and Patient Placement.
  • Identify and respond to patient care issues throughout the hospital; participate in emergency response plans.
  • Act as Incident Commander when required and implement the Hospital Incident Command System.
  • Maintain safety for patients, visitors, and employees; respond to environmental risks and equipment malfunctions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, including Joint Commission and Minnesota Department of Health requirements.
  • Serve as a resource, coach, and mentor to hospital employees, directing them to appropriate support services.
  • Guide staff on safe patient care practices and manage patient flow issues throughout the hospital.
  • Collaborate with inpatient units to plan admissions, transfers, and discharges; maintain electronic chart entries for patient flow.
Required Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of supervisory/management experience in healthcare (may include Charge RN or council leadership).
  • Valid MN Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
  • 3–5 years of healthcare-related leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
