We are looking for a Fabrication Trainer who is responsible for training, developing, and certifying employees within the fabrication department to ensure consistent workmanship and adherence to company safety, quality, and production standards. This position serves as the subject matter expert for fabrication training and skills qualification.
During periods when training demand is minimal or no trainees are assigned, the Fabrication Trainer will actively support manufacturing operations as a hands‑on fabricator and will be classified as direct labor during those times.
Key Responsibilities Training & Development (Primary Responsibility)- Train new hires and cross-functional employees on fabrication processes, equipment, tools, and standardized work procedures.
- Develop, update, and deliver training materials, including job instruction documents and visual aids.
- Evaluate trainee competency through hands‑on assessments, performance evaluations, and formal certification sign-offs.
- Reinforce compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
- Provide coaching on best practices, troubleshooting methods, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure training aligns with current processes and operational requirements.
- Perform fabrication duties in accordance with standard production requirements when not engaged in training activities.
- Support production throughput and schedule commitments during peak demand or staffing shortages.
- Maintain full compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards while performing direct labor.
- Serve as a technical resource and fabrication subject matter expert on the production floor.
- This position is eligible for a trainer premium in addition to the base hourly wage.
- Employees will receive a$2.00 per hour premium for hours worked performing Fabrication Trainer duties, in accordance with company compensation policies.
- Demonstrated hands‑on experience in fabrication operations.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Strong communication, coaching, and instructional abilities.
- Proven commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
- Previous experience in a training, lead, or mentoring role.
- Familiarity with standardized work processes, lean manufacturing principles, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to stand for extended periods in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift materials within company-established weight limits.
- Ability to safely operate fabrication equipment and related tools.
