Pay Range: $86,118 – $118,412

Position Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials, components, and finished goods throughout the manufacturing and distribution lifecycle. This individual is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing logistics strategies that support production efficiency, customer satisfaction, and cost controls. The position requires a blend of hands‑on warehouse management, process optimization, and cross‑functional leadership.

Core Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute shipping and receiving strategies that align with overall manufacturing and business goals.
  • Forecast labor, equipment, and space requirements to meet fluctuating production and distribution demands.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance in all logistics activities.
  • Participate in daily coordination meetings with production, purchasing, and scheduling teams to synchronize material flow.
  • Manage all outbound logistics, including domestic and international shipments of finished goods, ensuring accuracy in documentation, labeling, and packaging.
  • Coordinate freight carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and oversee routing and scheduling to optimize cost and delivery performance.
  • Ensure compliance with transportation regulations (DOT, IATA, IMDG, etc.) and customer‑specific shipping requirements.
  • Monitor and improve on‑time delivery metrics and implement corrective actions when performance gaps occur.
  • Oversee all inbound shipments, ensuring materials are accurately received, inspected, and promptly delivered to production or inventory.
  • Implement systematic verification processes for incoming goods, ensuring conformance to purchase orders, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with purchasing and quality departments to resolve discrepancies, damage claims, or supplier non‑conformances.
  • Manage material handling, storage layout, maximize space utilization and minimize material movement.
  • Enforce FIFO (First In, First Out) and material traceability standards for compliance and production control.
  • Implement lean warehousing principles to reduce waste, improve flow, and enhance productivity.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of warehouse, logistics, and forklift operators; foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews, establish clear goals, and provide ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Promote a safety‑first culture—lead safety audits, enforce PPE requirements, and maintain OSHA compliance.
  • Develop leadership succession plans and cross‑train staff to ensure operational continuity.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent 10 years’ experience in Logistics, Industrial Management & Material Handling.
  • 5–10 years of progressive logistics or warehouse management experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Proven experience leading teams in a high‑volume, fast‑paced setting with complex product lines.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Net Suite, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel or data analytics tools.
  • Deep understanding of domestic and international shipping procedures, customs documentation, and compliance regulations.
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS/CPIM preferred.
