On behalf of our client, Hammer & NER, Cohen Taylor is conducting a retained executive search for their next CEO.
Hammer & NER, one of Minnesota’s largest and most respected nonprofit disability service providers, is seeking its next Chief Executive Officer. With 59 homes, nine apartment programs, and customized support services reaching nearly 1,900 people annually, the organization is a mission‑driven leader committed to helping individuals with intellectual and other disabilities live life to its fullest.
The CEO will lead a $44M organization with 575 staff, guiding strategy, culture, operations, and financial performance. Reporting to a dedicated Board of Directors, this leader will oversee a strong executive team and serve as a visible advocate for disability services across Minnesota. The CEO will bring strategic clarity, operational discipline, and a people‑centered leadership approach to steward Hammer & NER into its next era of stability and innovation.
Key Responsibilities- Provide strategic leadership and ensure mission alignment across programs and operations
- Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and long‑term sustainability
- Lead and support a high‑performing executive team
- Strengthen organizational culture and workforce engagement
- Serve as a public ambassador and advocate for disability services
- Partner with the Board of Directors on governance and strategic direction
- 10+ years of executive leadership experience, ideally in disability services, social services, housing, or related fields
- Strong financial and operational acumen
- Experience leading large, multi‑site teams
- Demonstrated ability to lead through change and build organizational cohesioni>
- Inclusive, relationship‑driven leadership style
Salary Range: $260,000–$290,000, plus a comprehensive benefits plan.
Location:
Based in Wayzata, Minnesota, with regular presence across Hammer & NER’s Twin Cities locations. This is an in‑person role with occasional evening and weekend commitments.
