Overview

Product Designer (POS) – MS Product

Shape the Future of Payments with Nexi in 2026

About the Role

Design end-to-end experiences for POS software and payment products where digital interfaces meet physical retail environments. You ll work alongside a Lead Designer focusing on POS, collaborating on merchant journey design and product direction. You ll design flows for terminals, merchant-facing software, and payment integrations - designing for speed, reliability, and real-world merchant workflows.

This is systems design work: navigate payment regulations, hardware constraints, and software complexity to create scalable patterns that work across devices, markets, and use cases. Your designs need to perform under pressure - high-volume transactions, fast-paced retail environments, and merchants who need things to just work.

What You ll Do
  • Design End-to-End Merchant Journeys

Map complete merchant experiences from terminal setup and configuration through daily payment processing. You ll think holistically about how merchants onboard, configure settings, process transactions, handle errors, and manage their payment operations. Strong UX and journey mapping skills are essential - you need to see the full picture, not just individual screens.

  • Design POS Software & Terminal Experiences

Design the interface design for POS software and terminal interactions where digital meets physical retail. You ll design for speed and clarity - merchants need to process payments fast in busy environments. Every flow must be intuitive under pressure: distracted users, high transaction volumes, real-world chaos.

  • Navigate Hardware & Regulatory Constraints

Design within real-world constraints: terminal hardware limitations, payment compliance requirements, legacy systems, and technical debt. You ll balance merchant needs with what s technically feasible, creating experiences that work despite constraints - not just ideal-state concepts.

  • Design for Customization & White-Label Scenarios

Our POS solutions serve different merchant segments and may be white labelled for ISV partners. You ll design flexible systems that allow customization while maintaining quality and coherence - components that can be branded and configured for different contexts without breaking.

  • Drive Discovery & Collaboration

Validate designs with merchants, test assumptions, and work closely with product managers and engineers throughout. Champion evidence-based design and cross-functional partnership - participate in discovery, collaborate through delivery, focus on merchant outcomes.

  • Who You Are

You re a product designer with around 3 years  experience who thinks in journeys and systems, comfortable with real-world constraints, and excited about commerce and retail experiences.

    • 3+ years product design experience, ideally with B2B products, commerce/retail, or high-volume transaction environments
    • Journey thinking: you naturally map end-to-end experiences and see how pieces connect from onboarding through daily usage
    • Strong UX fundamentals: interaction design, information architecture, flow mapping
    • Merchant empathy: curious about how businesses operate, how merchants work under pressure, where software fails in real contexts
    • Comfort with constraints: you design within hardware limitations, compliance requirements, and technical debt, not just ideal scenarios
    • Discovery mindset: you validate assumptions, test with real users, iterate based on evidence, and champion discovery practices
    • Collaboration skills: you work effectively with PMs, engineers, and commercial teams even when not fully embedded
    • Figma proficiency and design systems knowledge
    • Comfort with ambiguity: you make progress in evolving product contexts
    Nice to Have
    • Fintech, payments, or retail/commerce background
    • Service design or journey mapping experience
    • Experience with white-label or multi-tenant product design
    • B2B SaaS or merchant-facing software experience
    • Understanding of POS systems or payment processing
