Rad Pro’s Radiation Protection Intern is responsible for working on projects and writing reports based on regulations, site assessments, field sampling, surveys, and laboratory data.
This position requires an exceptional eye for detail, general knowledge of radioactive materials, and an understanding of each State’s regulations related to radioactive materials specific to Rad Pro’s projects.
This is a 3‑4 month, 40‑hr per week in‑office position that reports to the Compliance Director. Rad Pros corporate office is located in Watkins, CO.
CoreDuties / Responsibilities:
- Support consulting projects through reviewing regulations, creating training materials, preparing or commenting on technical proposals, client proposals, or development meetings.
- Ensure follow‑through for the execution of deliverables including performing field work, sampling, surveying, report writing, data analysis, and / or modeling.
- Support field projects as needed, which may include shipping activities, radiation surveys, sampling events, and compliance paperwork.
- Support the development of Standard Operating Procedues (SOP) for internal processes and client radiation protection programs.
- Support the Compliance Director in managing Rad Pro’s regulatory compliance program ensuring compliance with all license requirements and regulations for both internal radioactive material licenses and client licenses.
- Manage multiple priorities to ensure Rad Pros objectives are met and to ensure accountability, timeliness, and excellence in meeting client and regulatory expectations.
- Support Rad Pro’s training program by modifying or developing curriculum and providing NORM/ TENORM and worker training as appropriate.
- Use workflow software, email, and verbal communication to effectively communicate upcoming deadlines and deliverables.
Certifications:
- Working towards a bachelor's/master’s degree in Sciences, Health Physics, Environmental Sciences, or a related field.
- Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing, for effective communication with clients and team members. Able to create reports, daily logs, SOPs, and other documentation as needed.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent typing and data management skills.l>
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools, Google Tools, and common computer applications.
