A Brief Overview

Accountable for planning, directing and carrying out, with their staff and volunteers, a schedule of meaningful activities which reflect resident preferences for social, intellectual, physical and spiritual desires.

What you will do

  • Ensure that recreational activities incorporate physical, social, religious, intellectual, physical, cognitive, and creative components and plan and implement individual and group based programs based on individual needs.
  • Manage revising/reviewing departmental policies, procedures and goals and hold self and subordinates accountable to uphold established standards and/or criteria in policies, procedures, guidelines and regulations.
  • Coordinate and lead the resident council meetings and ensure quality communication with resident families.
  • Manage and maintain an annual budget and communicate with leadership regarding this.
  • Facilitate training or provide information about facility-wide trainings required for staff/volunteers.
  • Communicate with volunteers about opportunities to assist with programs, and coordinate background checks with payroll/personnel.
  • Understand state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assure accurate and complete documentation of activities in the medical record, including Minimum Data Set (MDS) portions related to activities.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care conferences.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or

Work Experience:

  • Activity Director Certified - Certification Board within 1 Year
