Purpose of Position
To provide support to the adult, children, youth and family units, social workers, nurses, and management staff, thereby leading to a higher level of service delivery to clients, more effective utilization of staff, a greater degree of compliance with rules and regulations, and more timely responsiveness to agency management, clients, and the community at large.
Work Performed / Job FunctionsConduct various functions to provide support for management and staff of the units so that records and documentation are maintained, and services are provided to clients. Conduct various functions relating to vendors are paid for services and products provided, the county is reimbursed for services, and accountability for these services is reported. Conduct various functions to assist management and staff in monitoring service delivery and revenue maximization.
Contribute to the agency’s team process of service delivery.
When assigned to the Public Health Division this position works under the supervision of a staff nurse, participates in clinic activities; performs related work as assigned by a staff nurse, and provides hands‑on nursing support care to clients at Public Health Clinics including Women, Infant and Children (WIC), and Child and Teen Checkups.
When assigned to Social Services this position reports to supervisors within the Social Services Division, interviews clients to obtain and verify necessary factual information, contacts community resources as assigned and provides clerical support to social services units. Performs other duties as assigned.
When assigned to the Income Maintenance Unit of Cass County Health Human and Veterans Services this position works under the supervision of the Financial Assistance Supervisor I. Coordinates with Eligibility Workers and Supervisors from Cass, Hubbard and Wadena counties to determine if fraud or program violations were committed, investigates allegations of public assistance fraud according to the FPI program guidelines which includes collecting evidence and returning their findings to the eligibility worker in timely manner to assess for possible over payments and/or savings.
Knowledge,Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of individual and group behavior. Ability to work constructively within an agency in a community setting and effectively utilize appropriate resources and services. Ability to manage time, work effectively in a high‑stress, fast‑paced environment, and communicate effectively. Must have extensive computer skills, basic math skills, and organizational skills. Ability to establish and maintain accurate and systematic records.
Minimum Training, Experience, or CertificationsAssociate's degree in the field of Social and Behavioral Science or closely related field or, 3 years’ experience as a Community Case Aide working with children and families, or similar experience in a public agency or private non‑profit agency. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Physical EffortSedentary to light physical activities requiring stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, and close vision. Travel expected for those assigned to IMU for Cass County and the surrounding counties of Hubbard and Wadena. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 35 pounds. Typically, in an office environment.
Hourly Range$28.47 - $36.37
