Overview

Sunrise View Assisted Living is looking for an Activity Coordinator to make an impact at our campus!

Job Summary

The Activity Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and initiating/leading resident-centered, meaningful activities at Sunrise View Assisted Living and Adrian Country Living Cottages. The Activity Coordinator will assist with marketing, public relations, and special events as assigned.

Job Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Able to meet the physical and mental demands of the position
  • Preference given to candidates with experience providing direct care in a residential setting
  • Ability to communicate well with residents and families
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Maintain requirements as a certified Home Health Aide
  • Current driver s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the role
  • Two or more years of experience in an activity or recreational planning role in a long-term care setting preferred
  • Management experience preferred
  • A qualified therapeutic recreational specialist or an activities professional certificate, or a qualified occupational therapist or a qualified certified occupational therapist assistant is preferred.
Schedule

Full-time hourly position. Weekend and evening hours as needed.

Job Description Residents
  • Ensure that recreational, emotional, and social needs of resident(s) are met/maintained on an individual basis.
  • Provide residents/family opportunities to participate in the planning and implementation of activities program.
  • Participate in Resident Council meetings as warranted; assure minutes are recorded and follow up to any concerns/suggestions is provided to the residents.
  • Provide and participate in two structured activities per day (up to one hour each), 2 unstructured activities per day available to all residents.
Operations
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct recreational activities program.
  • Interview resident/families upon admission to determine activity like/dislikes, etc.
  • Assist in the planning of special events.
  • Monitor expenses of department and implement any necessary changes as directed by the ALD.
  • Recruit, train and supervise volunteers when appropriate.
  • Record activity progress for each resident in EMAR/Residex.
  • Provide assistance to residents for shopping needs.
