Speech/Language Pathologist – ECSE (ages 3-6), Long Term Substitute
Delano Public Schools is looking for a Speech/Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide coverage for the early childhood program offering special education services to children ages 3‑6. The SLP will assess, plan, and implement speech/language therapy services to support students’ communication development and participation in the educational environment. The ideal candidate is collaborative, child‑centered, and experienced with young learners. Location: Delano Community Education Building
Hours: 8 hours/day (7:30‑3:30)
Anticipated Start Date / Duration: 13 weeks starting on January 20, 2026 (specific dates are subject to change slightly)
Salary: $261.98/day
- Provide direct and indirect speech and language services to students ages 3–6 in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Conduct speech, language, and communication assessments and write corresponding evaluation reports.
- Participate in the development, review, and revision of IEPs in collaboration with teachers, families, and other team members.
- Implement evidence‑based therapy interventions to address students’ speech, language, fluency, and communication needs.
- Consult with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate communication goals into daily routines and classroom activities.
- Maintain accurate records of services, progress notes, and required documentation in compliance with district and state guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress, strategies, and home carryover activities.
- Maintain positive and constructive communication with staff.
- Collaborate with early childhood and special education teams to support inclusive practices and student success.
- Maintain and report accurate student attendance and performance records.
- Collaborate effectively with school and district staff as part of a department team and other leadership committees.
- Adhere to due process timelines and complete individualized education plan and evaluation paperwork to guide educational programming.
- Required:
- Current Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) licensure as a Speech‑Language Pathologist.
- Master’s degree in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited program.
- Preferred:
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) from ASHA;
Clinical Fellows (CFs) will be considered. - Experience working with preschool and early childhood populations.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
