Job Details
PURPOSE OF POSITIONProvide information and assistance to citizens, property owners, installers, contractors, and other interested parties regarding sewage treatment systems, land use regulation, solid waste, and other environmentally related programs.
WORK PERFORMED/JOB FUNCTIONSReview and field inspect land use license and permit applications. Review of the subsurface sewage treatment system (SSTS) designs and evaluations. Investigate and process environmentally related complaints and violations. Field review of SSTS installations, short-term-rental license, and permit applications. Provide field service for other ESD programs and Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESGeneral knowledge of state and local statutes, rules, and ordinances regarding subsurface sewage treatment systems, land use planning, solid waste, wetlands, and other environmentally related fields. Ability to perform technical inspections, provide oversight, and make recommendations for various license and permit applications. Working knowledge of computers and software applications. Maintain effective relationships with the citizens, colleagues, county officials, state agency representatives, SSTS professionals, contractors, and other environmentally related groups or constituencies.
MINIMUMTRAINING, EXPERIENCE, OR CERTIFICATIONS
Requires a bachelor’s degree (preferred) in an environmentally related field or a minimum of a two-year degree in an environmentally related field with an additional two years of work experience in environmental studies, earth sciences, land use planning, natural resources management, or other environmentally related field or endeavor. Minnesota Pollution Control Agency SSTS professional registration or must become registered within one year of hire.
Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
Light to medium physical activities requiring hiking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, feeling, talking, hearing, near and far acuity, depth perception, and color vision. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Work in the field will include exposure to weather and wet conditions, as well as inside work in an office setting.
HOURLY RANGE$32.61 - $41.79
