Assistant/associate/full professor of building physics and materials
Are you a visionary academic in the field of civil and construction engineering? LUT University is launching a civil engineering department at Lahti campus. We are looking for trailblazers to lead the way!
The LUT School of Energy Systems is launching its new Department of Civil Engineering in 2026. The focus areas of the new department are technology-driven growth, business model transformation, and infrastructure resilience. These areas are characterised by cutting-edge academic research and a commitment to advancing the global competitiveness of the construction industry.
We rethink construction from materials and management to cities and communities.
The professorship of building physics and materials will be located at LUT’s Lahti campus, Finland. You will focus on advancing innovative materials, structures, and solutions that improve building performance and support the transition toward regenerative use of natural resources.
You should have demonstrated expertise in at least one of the following fields of construction technology:
- building physics; heat and moisture transfer in structures
- construction materials; new material solutions and material development
- wood, steel, concrete, or composite structures
- structural analysis and design
- hybrid solutions especially for renovation
- integration of structures and systems
- structural solutions affecting energy efficiency.

The professorship will be filled through an open application process, with a fixed four-year term for the assistant/associate professor level or a permanent appointment for the full professor level. A six-month trial period applies.
The salary is determined according to the salary system for university teaching and research personnel. The pay will include an individual pay component based on performance and competence. The gross annual salary of an assistant/associate professor ranges from 50,500 to 68,000 euros and a full professor from 70,000 to 104,800 euros, depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
