About the OpportunityDoherty Staffing Solutions is partnering with a manufacturing company to hire a Sr. Controls Engineer. This hands‑on role focuses on automation, problem‑solving, and improving industrial processes using modern controls systems. You’ll design new equipment controls, enhance existing systems, and collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and technical teams. This is a great fit for candidates who enjoy impactful engineering work in a fast‑paced, high‑quality manufacturing environment.
WhatYou’ll Do as a Sr. Controls Engineer:
- Design, program, and troubleshoot automated equipment using Rockwell Automation, Codesys, or B+R platforms
- Develop control schematics and panel designs using AutoCAD Electrical
- Program and optimize PLCs, PACs, VFDs, HMIs, and motion systems
- Review/update codes, standards, and specifications to ensure internal compliance
- Lead upgrades to existing control systems and support integration of new automation equipment
- Prepare documentation aligned with electrical and safety codes
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, assembly, customer service, and sales throughout each project lifecycle
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 5+ years of controls engineering experience
- OR 10+ years of controls experience with a 2‑year automation or related technical degree
- Familiarity with NEC, UL508A, NFPA, and other applicable US/international codes
- Experience creating equipment specifications and automation concepts
- Strong troubleshooting and communication skills
- Ability to work onsite and travel as needed (if applicable)
- Ability to pass applicable pre‑employment screenings
