Mechanical Designer III

Job Title: Designer III, Mechanical

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Department: Engineering

Reports to: Engineering Manager, Mechanical or Director, R&D or Product Support Group

The Designer III, Mechanical is responsible for developing and maintaining design, detailed drawings, and related specifications of equipment under the direction of an engineer.

• Create conceptual layouts of machines, machine components, and systems to meet required specifications.
• Prepare, check, and process engineering changes to incorporate updated design to new or existing machines.
• Design and develop complex mechanical systems, equipment, and products for industrial machinery.
• Design for manufacturability and validate designs through analysis with input from engineers.
• Coordinate own design efforts to meet production schedules and provide project task estimates and updates to project team.

• Maintain effective communication between departments and teams to support successful project releases.

Education: Associate Degree in Design/Drafting

Experience: 5+ years experience with CAD modeling, detail drafting, and PDM systems.

Licenses/Certifications: Obtain and maintain railroad safety training and credentials

• Working knowledge of business software including MS Office suite.

• Knowledge in Autodesk and ERP software
