Job Description
The Project Engineering is responsible for managing functional requirements, determining technical resources, and coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution. They lead the technical team to meet project schedules and budgets, develop technical plans, and guide the development of requirements and processing methods. Additionally, they review subcontractor work products, support transition to production, and prepare budgetary and engineering estimates. The role also involves assisting with budget development, managing government property, and performing other duties as required.
Overall, the Project Engineering Lead ensures the technical viability and successful completion of engineering tasks on assigned projects. Overtime hours or weekend work may be required to support accelerated program schedules.
- Manage functional requirements for projects.
- Determine technical resources needed to complete projects.
- Cross-Functional Coordination between the engineering staff and Support Staff assigned to the specific projects in the design, development, construction and commissioning/acceptance phases.
- Be responsible for overall technical viability to requirements as well as successful completion of engineering tasks on the assigned projects.
- Lead the technical team in meeting schedule within budget and provide regular updates to progress.
- Lead cross functional internal engineering teams or external suppliers in the development of drawings, statements of work, labor estimates, and specification packages for procurement of equipment or services.
- Lead technical design team in the application of BAE Systems Life Cycle Management processes and methods used in the development, test and commissioning.
- Create the technical development plan.
- Guide and develop the requirements, processing methods, equipment and engineering tasking for development, and commissioning.
- Review subcontractor technical work products to assure satisfactory performance of the scope of work.
- Support the transition to production following commissioning/acceptance testing.
- Prepare budgetary and engineering estimates.
- Prepare schedules regarding assigned technical tasks and provide status on tasking.
- Prepare workflow schedule and process task duration estimates.
- Be responsible for assisting the PM in development of the budget, approval of purchase requisitions and of invoices.
- Government Property (receiving, Processing, tagging, inventory, etc.) and including audit support
- Perform other duties as required to ensure successful project execution.
- Requires a minimum of a high school diploma and 8+ years’ experience or a bachelor's degree and 6+ years’ experience.
- 6+ years related project engineering experience
- 2 years in an engineering technical project position leading multiple cross functional engineering team.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with engineering teams other functional departments and customers.
- Must be able to write clear and concise engineering documents (i.e. Statements or Work, BOEs, reports, etc.).
- Must be able to read and understand drawings and blueprints.
- Must be able to foster a positive work environment.
- Must be able to effectively navigate ERP Systems (Oracle)
- Must be able to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook software.
- Moderate Proficiency in CAD suite software
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining deadlines
- Understanding of configuration management for platform products
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or industrial engineering
- Experience in the chemical process industry or energetics industry
- Experience in Plant Maintenance/Sustainment Projects/Capital Project installations
- Experience with Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) methodology and justifying the basis of estimate for each task
- Experience is technical proposal creation and documentation.
- Experience with the following software is a plus:
Microsoft Project, Excel, and PowerPoint, Windchill, SharePoint. - PMP certification
- PE license
Full-Time Salary Range: $115,779 - $196,825
