Professor or Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) in Public Law
The Faculty of Law at the University of Turku invites applications for a permanent position as professor of public law or a fixed-term position as assistant/associate professor (tenure track), which is intended to be filled as of March 1, 2027.
Responsibilities- Conducts and supervises scientific research
- Provides teaching based on this research
- Participates in university community and administrative tasks
- Actively participates in the activities of the scientific community and social interaction
- Relevant doctoral degree
- Strong evidence of high-level, international, and active scientific research and publishing in the field of public law
- Diverse teaching and supervision experience
- Active participation in international cooperation and responsible tasks in the scientific community
- Experience in university community and administrative tasks
- Experience in applying for supplementary research funding
- Supervisory experience or training required for the position, or the willingness to participate in supervisory training
The successful candidate must be able to teach either administrative law or constitutional law, or both.
In the evaluation of applicants, particular importance will be attached to the quality, internationality, and innovativeness of the applicant's scientific research, the connections between the applicant's research work and the research and focus areas of the faculty, and the applicant's ability to strengthen the faculty's research profile, build new and developing research areas, and produce high-quality peer‑reviewed publications.
Emphasis is also placed on the networks and research funding brought by the applicant, internationality, the societal impact of the research, and connections and impact on working life.
The faculty's teaching needs are also taken into account in the selection process.
The successful candidate is required to have sufficient Finnish language skills to be able to teach, supervise student theses, and check exams and essays in Finnish.
The position will be filled on the basis of the applicant's previous achievements as a fixed‑term assistant/associate professor (tenure track) or as a permanent professor (Full Professor).

Salary is determined in accordance with the salary system for teaching and research staff at universities (YPJ). The job requirement level for an assistant/associate professor is 7 and for a professor 8–10. In addition, a salary component based on personal performance is paid. The exact salary will be determined when the employment contract is drawn up.
The position has a trial period of six months.
