Description
The City of Columbia Heights Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Ice Skating Instructor to lead youth ice skating classes on Saturdays and/or Sundays, depending on the chosen schedule. Season predicted to be late December - January, depending on weather and ice conditions.

Examples of Duties
The Ice Skating Instructor is responsible for planning and leading beginner-level classes for youth ages 5 - 12 . Through instruction and game play, the instructor will teach youth the basics of skating and ensure their safety while on the ice. The applicant must be willing to collaborate and co-teach with other skating instructors and assist in communications with families in Recreation programming.

Ice skating classes are held on an outdoor rink in Columbia Heights, MN. Instructors will be working in variable outdoor winter weather conditions.

Qualifications

• The candidate must be intermediate-advanced in ice skating: hockey or figure skating, and able to teach the skills.
• First aid training a plus.
• Candidate must be able to positively interact with youth and families.
• Class management skills a plus.
• Candidate must pass background check.
