Position Summary

The successful candidate will support elementary learners with targeted academic needs while partnering with educators to strengthen literacy practices aligned with the Science of Reading and Minnesota READ Act requirements. This position requires a collaborative, reflective practitioner who is passionate about equitable outcomes for all students and skilled in using data to drive instructional decisions.

Qualifications
  • Minnesota licensure in K12 Reading or Elementary Education
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individual students and small groups; strong knowledge of evidence-based intervention strategies to support learners with significant academic needs
  • Experience working with diverse student populations
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to think creatively and flexibly; deep commitment to educational equity and inclusive practices
  • Motivated, reflective, and collaborative team member; ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and families
Requirements
  • Valid Minnesota K6 Elementary Teaching License (required)
  • Master's degree in K12 Reading, Education, Special Education, or a related field (highly recommended)
  • LETRS, OL&LA, CAREIALL certification
Additional Considerations / Desired Experience
  • Experience delivering reading, language, and math intervention
  • Formal training in the Science of Reading, specifically aligned to Minnesota READ Act requirements
  • Strong working knowledge of Fast Bridge, Capti, and/or other assessment tools, and the ability to analyze data to inform instruction and interventions

Humphrey & Winsted Elementary

With two elementary schools to serve our three communities, we set out to establish a solid foundation of core academic instruction. Humphrey Elementary is home to our primary students, serving Kindergarten through second grade students, and also is home to different preschool opportunities. Winsted Elementary is home to our intermediate grade students, serving third and fourth grade students. Winsted also provides preschool opportunities as well.

Keeping class sizes low and supplementing with support staff including paraprofessionals, social workers, SLPs and SLPAs, both Humphrey and Winsted Elementary have created a positive, enriching experience for all our students and families. Much of what we do as elementary schools is established through strong connections made between staff and students. Our staff members really get to know each and every child, and through the use of Nurtured Heart Approach, we make sure that there are adults who look out for the needs of everyone.

Our schools were remodeled and additions were made to both facilities in 2007. Our student population at both schools continues to grow not only in numbers, but in excitement about all the possibilities our schools make into a reality. Honorees of the United States Department of Education's National Blue Ribbon (Humphrey 2012 & Winsted 2013), and recent recipients of MESPA's School of Excellence Award, our elementary schools are top notch!
