Aitkin Public Schools ISD#1 has openings for substitute teachers who are interested in making a difference in a child's life and in our Aitkin community.

• Carry out classroom instructions for students in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
• Follow provided regular lesson plans as closely as possible to ensure continued learning.
• Use appropriate classroom management techniques to facilitate learning for different needs of students.
• Collaborate with fellow coworkers and support staff to ensure that the highest level of learning takes place in our classrooms each and every day.

A valid Minnesota Teacher License (or Short-Call Substitute License) through PELSB (Professional Educator Licensing and Standards Board) is required for all teaching staff. If you currently have a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree, you can become licensed as a substitute teacher. Contact Julie Nowlan at jnowlan in the District Office for more information.

$140.00 per school day or $18.47 per hour.

Hours vary according to the substitute opportunity. The regular school days are from 7:45 – 3:15 in Elementary and 8:00 – 3:30 in High School.
