Position Title: Elementary Classroom Teacher, Long Term Substitute Teacher, Grade 4

Location: Royalton Elementary School, Royalton School District 485

Position Type: Elementary School Teaching / Elementary Teacher

Position Purpose

Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Functions
  • Develops and administers elementary curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
  • Promotes a safe, inclusive classroom environment conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
  • Plans lessons, creates instructional materials, and translates plans into learning experiences that utilize instruction time effectively.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; provides individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Instructs students in responsible citizenship and subject matters specified in laws and school regulations.
  • Acquires professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or research.
  • Maintains accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance per district procedures.
  • Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Establishes student conduct standards and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed for a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborates with elementary staff to evaluate and assess curriculum; participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate instructional aids and supplies; maintains inventory records.
  • Supervises students in activities out of the classroom during the school day, including transportation activities.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and central office administrators.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods, pedagogy, and differentiation based on student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of elementary curriculum, data systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state education laws.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
  • Organizational and coordination skills.
  • Effective communication with students and parents.
  • Self-evaluation and professional growth.
  • Cooperative working relationships with others.
Qualifications Profile
  • MN State Certification as an Elementary Teacher (required).
  • MN State Certification in the appropriate grade level (preferred).
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline (required).
  • Master's degree in related area (preferred).
Experience

Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels a plus.

Salary

This position will follow the REM Collective Bargaining Group. Actual salary to be negotiated upon hire based on experience and education.

Travel Requirements

Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

Works in standard office and school building environments.
