2026 Kidstop - Youth and Family Services Instructor

. This full‑time summer position supports K‑5 youth in a choice‑based environment with field trips and accommodations for diverse needs.
- Employment Dates:
June 8, 2026 – August 21, 2026 - Staff Training Days:
Monday, June 8 – Thursday, June 11 (Staff Only) - Youth Program Dates:
Friday, June 12 – Friday, August 21 - Program Closures:
June 19 and July 3 - Work Hours:
8:30 am – 5:00 pm with a 30 min unpaid lunch break - Locations:
Basswood Elementary, Oak View Elementary, Weaver Lake Elementary, Woodland Elementary - Staff Time Off:
Up to 5 unpaid days during the summer - All staff are expected to work through August 21, 2026
- Follow all district, program, and building health and safety procedures
- Communicate verbally and in writing about youth accidents/incidents to Program Leaders and families as needed
- Assist staff to actively supervise all youth at all times, maintaining visual and auditory supervision and tracking systems
- Maintain confidentiality of youth and families
- Plan and accommodate field trips, adjusting hours or locations as required; attend field trips to provide direct support
- Supervise scholars in multiple indoor and outdoor environments, including playgrounds, fields, gymnasiums, cafeterias, community spaces, and special venues
- Support scholars during water‑based activities, wearing appropriate swim attire
- Support if needed at other Kidstop elementary locations, coordinating daily with staff and stakeholders
- Model positive supervision and inclusive practices, facilitating staff meetings and daily huddles
- Assist in planning and delivering staff training sessions and in‑ratio support when needed for breaks or student needs
- Maintain strong relationships with families, scheduling ongoing communication and facilitating family meetings to support youth success
- Develop and implement early intervention strategies and accommodations for youth struggling with program structure or daily expectations
- Observe and respond to youth both in classroom and outdoor settings, creating actionable success plans
- Operate adaptive equipment and ensure proper use; assist with medical, physical, or behavioral needs as necessary
- Promote an environment that respects all abilities, identities, and beliefs; observe, collect, and report data as needed, aligning with IEP or care plans
- Assist in creating and implementing Positive Behavior Intervention Systems (PBIS) or similar reward recognition
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in appropriate field (required)
- Knowledge of social/emotional learning, culturally responsive practices, trauma‑informed and restorative approaches
- Experience supporting diverse learning styles and needs
- Knowledge of out‑of‑school‑time or choice‑based programming
- Strong small‑ and large‑group facilitation and coaching skills
- Ability to support collaborative problem‑solving with families and teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting youth with higher‑level needs and partnering with their adults
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Complete a background check and any additional paperwork prior to the summer starting
- Attend 2–3 staff meetings, in‑service training week, and program family/student events
Salary: $35 /hour. Job Type: Full‑time Summer Casual. Bargaining Unit:
Casual.
