Summer Gallery Intern

The Gallery Intern will work primarily in Lanesboro Arts' Juried Sales and Exhibition Art Galleries under the direction of the Lanesboro Arts Executive Director, Gallery Manager, and Program Director in a welcoming and innovative non‑profit setting. Job duties include boosting and facilitating gallery sales, maintaining inventory data, installing and preparing exhibition gallery shows, working with 100+ artists from the tri‑state region, and assisting with special events (receptions, St.

Mane Theatre performances, Art in the Park festival, etc.).

The intern will have the opportunity to pursue long‑term projects in service of gallery artists for example:

• Maintaining and improving the online webstore.
• Storytelling and promotion of Gallery artists in digital and gallery spaces
• Video production about Lanesboro Arts gallery, values, opportunities
• Creation of gallery applications FAQ documents
• Other projects developed with LA Staff in pursuit of the Intern’s learning goals and Gallery Improvements.

For this position, focus of study could be in Studio Arts, Arts Management, Art History, and/or Communications; however, any applicant with an interest in arts nonprofits may apply. Retail sales/customer service experience is strongly preferred, as well as experience working with people and/or artists. Skills that would be beneficial for this position include:
Word Press, Photoshop/graphic design, creative writing, copywriting, social media platforms, interpersonal communication, event organizing/production, and video editing. Desired attributes include: self‑motivation, creative problem‑solving, ability to improvise, ability to multitask, attention to detail, passion about the role of art in culture in building resilient communities, and desire to learn & develop new skills.

• 11 weeks. Includes 4 vacation days within this time.
• Start date negotiable. Ideally the intern would begin on May 26th or June 2nd, 2026.
• Full time (40 hrs/week): hours will be mostly days, but interns will be expected to work some weekend and evening events as per flexible, pre‑arranged schedule.
• $2,000 total stipend for the summer.
• Lanesboro Arts will provide housing in Lanesboro, MN during the 11‑week internship.
