Summer Programs Intern

The Programs Intern will work directly with the Lanesboro Arts Program Director and Executive Director on a broad range of communications and events activities in an active and innovative non‑profit setting. The intern gains hands‑on experience coordinating and promoting summer youth education, Art in the Park, and performing arts programs. Job duties include creating effective communications, including news releases, storytelling videos, and physical marketing materials.

This position will also assist with membership data entry, creating and maintaining organizational systems, and general administrative work.

The intern will have the opportunity to pursue long‑term projects in service of Lanesboro Arts Programs for example:

• Storytelling and promotion of Lanesboro Arts Programs in digital and physical spaces
• Community survey/feedback gathering on Lanesboro Arts Programs
• Public art projects/Grant applications in support of public art projects
• Other projects developed with LA Staff in pursuit of the intern’s learning goals and Lanesboro Arts Needs

For this position, focus of study could be Mass Communications, Public Relations, Studio Arts, English, Business, Education, Theatre Production, etc.; however, any applicant with an interest in non‑profit administration may apply. Skills that would be beneficial for this position include:
Word Press, Photoshop/graphic design, creative writing, copywriting, social media platforms, event organizing/production, and video editing. Strong writing skills, or a desire to develop them, are a must. Customer service or teaching experience are especially useful. Desired attributes include: self‑motivation, creative problem‑solving, ability to improvise, ability to multitask, attention to detail, interest in using art to address community challenges, passion for the role of art in culture in building resilient rural communities.

• 11 weeks. Includes 4 vacation days within this time.
• Start date negotiable, but ideally the intern would begin on May 26th or June 2nd, 2026.
• Full time (40 hrs/week): hours will be mostly days, but interns will be expected to work some weekend and evening events as per flexible pre‑arranged schedule.
• $2,000 total stipend for the summer.
• Lanesboro Arts will provide housing in Lanesboro, MN during the 11‑week internship.
