The Source Water Protection Collaborative, facilitated by Environmental Initiative, invites applications for a 10-month artist residency focused on community engagement and drinking water protection in Chatfield, Minnesota.
This residency seeks an artist or artist team skilled in using creative approaches to deepen community connection and inspire collective action on complex public issues. The selected artist(s) will collaborate with Chatfield residents, local leaders, and water professionals to co-design and implement a creative project that strengthens understanding, trust, and shared responsibility for local drinking water.
We welcome applications from artists of all disciplines and career stages. Ideal applicants are curious, community-minded, and experienced in participatory or place-based work. Whether through visual art, performance, storytelling, or other mediums, the artist(s) will help surface new ways for people to connect with water, land, and one another.

March–December 2026 (part-time, approx. 15–20 hours/week).Compensation: $45,000 stipend + $15,000 project budget.
