Winehaven is a family‑owned winery located in the heart of Minnesota’s scenic Chisago Lakes Area. We produce over 20 varieties of wines from grapes, fruit and honey.

Winehaven is currently seeking a professional, experienced Tasting Room Manager with strong leadership skills to join our winery’s hospitality team. This position will be responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of Winehaven’s retail sales in Chisago City, Minnesota. This critical role includes customer service, employee development, sales tracking, inventory control and event support. This position will directly manage the activities of the tasting room employees to ensure friendly, professional, efficient and courteous service is provided to customers.

Developing a positive working environment with a spirit of cooperation is a key element of this position. Our visitor volume and high profile tasting room require an outgoing, well‑organized, self‑motivated and disciplined individual who is focused on the customer’s experience.

Full‑Time Position: (40 hours/week average).

Essential Functions of this Job
  • Effectively oversee the day‑to‑day operations of our tasting room which includes; tastings, visitor relations, staff performance, wine clubs and Internet sales.
  • Delivers guidance and structure to other key personnel to properly delegate areas of responsibility and manage the outcome of various projects.
  • Provides motivation, leadership and personal support through coaching, guidance and staff development.
  • Manages the overall culture, encourages a strong work ethic and fosters an environment of integrity and admiration.
  • Oversees hiring, training, coaching and provides mentorship to the tasting room staff to encourage and maximize their potential.
  • Partners with winemakers and production staff to ensure the tasting room staff receives the appropriate level of sales, product and general wine education and training.
  • Conveys the value of our products, services and company image to our guests.
  • Recognize and address performance strengths and challenges of the staff. Handle employee issues, concerns and complaints in an objective, professional and confidential manner.
  • Maintain professional and timely communications with other winery staff to assure continuity and success of winery activities and responsibilities.
  • Develop strategies to increase guest count, sales per transaction and other tactics that help to grow the business.
  • Develop sales goals and implement promotions and strategies to successfully achieve these goals.
  • Oversee and maintain accurate inventories for both wine and non‑wine merchandise to minimize loss and optimize reorder set points.
  • Work within the tasting room conducting tastings, answering phones, resolving guest complaints and recording reservations as needed.
  • Responsible for selecting, with the help of staff and ownership, non‑wine merchandise and assessing success of each item based on sales.
  • Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the tasting room areas.
  • Responsible for overseeing, staffing and implementing special events including weddings, dinners and VIP tastings.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 4–8 years of related experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree desirable.
  • Prior winery, restaurant or food service experience highly desirable.
  • Possess excellent overall communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Proven ability to work with multiple personality types while demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrate high levels of leadership, initiative, creativity and flexibility.
  • Proficient computer knowledge in areas such as MS Office and Point of Sale systems.
  • Flexible work schedule will be required to execute the job function. Weekends, evening and some holidays required.
  • Can lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Can be on your feet much of the day.
