Assistant General Manager – Transit

NOTE:

The following position is for a proposed new/future business within Transdev. Only candidates meeting the work experience requirements will be considered.

Location:

Minneapolis, MN. The Assistant General Manager supports the General Manager in directing the passenger transit operations, is responsible for day‑to‑day operations of the contract, facility and safety of personnel and passengers, customer service, and managing the financials.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive compensation package of minimum $98,758.40 – maximum $.

  • Vacation: minimum of two (2) weeks
  • Sick days: 5 days
  • Holidays: 12 days; 8 standard and 4 floating
  • Other standard benefits: 401(k) retirement plan, medical, dental and vision, life insurance, short‑term disability, and voluntary long‑term disability.
Key Responsibilities
  • Direct daily operations management.
  • Provide strategic planning and direction to the operations staff.
  • Manage contract compliance.
  • Share responsibility for scheduling, performance evaluation, and staffing of facility’s management staff.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or related field preferred.
  • 5–7 years of supervisory or management‑level experience in the passenger transportation industry.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations underlying transit operations.
  • Knowledge of the methods of operation of the transit system’s staff and operational departments.
  • Ability to deal with state and local government.
  • Ability to manage cost control and financial/budget experience, handling multiple locations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; excellent presentation skills; ability to influence people at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and perform work efficiently.
  • Experience navigating labor relations issues and working effectively with union partners, including labor grievances and negotiations.
  • Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
  • Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
