Position Summary

Provide comprehensive school social work services to students in grades 3–12 in both general education and special education settings. Support students' social, emotional, behavioral, and attendance needs to ensure full access to educational programming. Collaborate with staff, families, and community agencies to promote student success and well-being.

Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Social Work required; MSW preferred
  • Valid Minnesota Social Work License
  • Valid Minnesota School Social Worker License (PELSB)
  • Experienced working as a School Social Worker preferred
Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small-group counseling and skill development.
  • Deliver social-emotional and behavioral supports aligned with student goals.
  • Provide weekly IEP services; attend IEP meetings and develop social/emotional goals.
  • Implement and collaborate on behavior intervention plans.
  • Advocate for students and families within special education and general education processes.
  • Participate in MTSS/SAT, Student Support, and Behavior/PBIS teams.
  • Develop and deliver building-wide Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety assessments, and de-escalation support.
  • Monitor attendance; coordinate truancy interventions, meetings, and required court documentation.
  • Serve as liaison with community agencies; coordinate referrals and outside services.
  • Assist families in accessing community resources and support.
  • Develop and monitor 504s, ensuring compliance, plan development, annual review, and accommodation monitoring.
  • Support McKinney-Vento requirements and complete mandated child protection reporting.
  • Maintain documentation and required reporting.
  • Perform other duties of comparable level or type as assigned by the supervisor.
