Position: Support Specialist (Recovery Support Services) - Full time and Part-Time Openings

Job Details

The Support Specialist is responsible for directly supervising residents’ actions and movements, ensuring program rules and regulations are followed. The Support Specialist serves as a liaison between residents and case management staff, guides and supports residents, and maintains accountability and a positive atmosphere that promotes motivation and change. The role also enforces fire, housekeeping, and sanitation regulations and may perform duties for nonresidential clients as needed.

  • Pay ranges from $20-$22 per hour.
  • Overnight shifts receive a $2 shift differential.
Open Shifts
  • Part‑Time – Weekends, 11pm‑7am (2–3 shifts).
  • Part‑Time – Weekends, 7am‑3pm (2–3 shifts).
  • Part‑Time – 2nd shift with weekend availability.
Full‑time
  • 2nd shift, 2pm‑10pm with weekend availability.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor house activities while directly supervising resident actions and movements.
  • Handle discipline of program residents for major/minor violations.
  • Maintain security, safety, and sanitation in accordance with policy and applicable laws, including regular facility rounds.
  • Conduct intakes for new residents, including background information, rule explanation, and facility orientation.
  • Maintain communications with clients and staff, record daily logs, client data, incident reports, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Perform searches of the facility and residents’ belongings as needed or scheduled.
  • Practice ethical relationships with clients, staff, and community agencies (PREA compliance).
  • Provide informal guidance and support to clients, serving as ongoing contact.
  • Collect urinalysis samples (same‑sex clients) and perform random breath analysis tests on assigned residents.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • One year free of problematic substance use.
  • Six‑month requirement between any treatment services and employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field.
  • Experience with substance use treatment, criminal justice, or related field.
  • Clear and professional communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds with multiple barriers.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Commitment to person‑centered care and a professional approach.
