Job Overview
The Maintenance Engineer operates and maintains the equipment and fixtures within the facility using acceptable work practices and following hospital and departmental guidelines to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for patients, staff and visitors.
Position Details- 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- day/eve/night shift
- as needed weekend rotation
- Repairs and maintains various pieces of mechanical and electrical equipment following accepted practices and procedures. These systems include plumbing, controls, HVAC refrigeration and electrical/emergency power.
- Repairs and maintains patient care equipment to provide a safe environment for patients and comply with the standards of the various regulatory agencies.
- Gains a thorough working knowledge of the major systems within the hospital, and is able to operate them safely and efficiently and troubleshoot problems so they can be remedied with a minimum of downtime and distribution of service.
- Repairs, maintains, adjusts and calibrates miscellaneous portable equipment brought to the shop for repair, including but not limited to wheelchairs, carts, kitchen equipment, banomemters, beds, tubes etc.
- Demonstrates the ability to use blueprints, schematics and technical manuals to trouble‑shoot and isolate problems.
- Performs periodic preventive maintenance on fans, motors, belts, HVAC systems, steam, water, sewer, air and vacuum lines regulatory as assigned.
- GED or High School Diploma
- 3 years Building maintenance, that includes HVAC, electrical, mechanical, EMS, fire systems pumps
- Technical School Graduate of an accredited trade school in refrigeration, electricity, building maintenance or other appropriate course
- Minnesota Maintenance Electrical License ;

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
