Business Manager

. This position is responsible for managing the assigned customer business in a defined marketing area, driving sales, increasing market share, and building strong relationships with principals and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve sales and market share goals for principal brands while maximizing revenue through brokerage, commissions, bonuses, and contests.
  • Communicate principal priorities to Retail Sales Managers, Sales Technology Managers, Marketing Managers, and the retail selling organization to ensure in‑store presence and business objectives are met.
  • Report directly to the General Manager or Team Leader and participate in the development, design, and presentation of Acosta introductions to new principals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with principals and customers, proactively fostering collaboration.
  • Coordinate communication between General Managers, key principals, and Retail Sales Managers on major retail initiatives such as new product introductions, selling drives, and contests.
  • Coordinate market visits and key account calls, using knowledge of customers, markets, and principals to sell specific programs and initiatives.
  • Leverage insights from senior leadership to develop conceptual sales presentations that deliver principal objectives.
  • Provide feedback on the effectiveness of principal strategies, selling programs, and initiatives to both the principal and the General Manager, and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain accurate account distribution information and review market pricing reports for accuracy and competitive activity.
  • Proactively manage personal skill development and share customer/manufacturer information with the team.
  • Ensure all client procedures and policies are followed, achieve proficiency in proprietary systems, and manage financial aspects such as promotional plans and fund balances.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall business success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven track record in sales, preferably with a food broker or national company.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, presentation, negotiation, and sales skills.
  • Ability to analyze sales and marketing information for effective sales presentations.
  • Proficiency in a variety of software packages used to support the sales function.
  • Willingness to travel minimally (up to 5%).
