We are seeking an energetic and strategic Market Manager to lead our regional sales initiatives and drive business growth. The Market Manager is responsible for managing and growing sales through food service distributors and key end-user accounts in the Upper Midwest region. This role focuses on strengthening distributor partnerships, driving pull-through demand at independent and multi-unit restaurant operators, and training distributor sales teams on the company’s product portfolio.
The Market Manager works closely with internal departments to ensure product availability, pricing accuracy, and superior customer service while executing the company’s strategic growth objectives.
- Manage, support, and grow business with core food service distributors.
- Conduct regular business reviews with distributor category managers and purchasing teams.
- Ensure accurate pricing, item setup, product codes, and promotional programs are in place.
- Monitor and analyze distributor inventory levels and order patterns to prevent stockouts and manage obsolescence.
- Develop annual regional sales plans with clear distributor and operator targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key operator accounts (independent and multi-unit).
- Conduct product cuttings, menu ideation sessions, and value-selling presentations to operators.
- Identify new business opportunities and collaborate internally to activate.
- Conduct ongoing product and sales training to distributor sales representatives (DSRs).
- Schedule and participate in ride‑alongs, food shows, sales meetings, and culinary presentations.
- Provide hands‑on field support to help win new operator menu placements.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain on forecast planning and demand visibility.
- Partner with R&D and Customer Service for new product requests and issue resolution.
- Maintain CRM pipeline activity, call reporting, and opportunity tracking.
- Provide regional performance insights to leadership.
- 3–7 years of food service sales experience, preferably with a commercial bakery, CPG manufacturer, broker, or distributor.
- Strong understanding of food service distribution mechanics (rebates, deviated pricing, DSR incentives, etc.).
- Comfortable presenting products, conducting menu ideation, and working with culinary teams.
- Excellent communication, time management, and relationship‑building skills.
- Willingness to travel 40–60% within the region.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Expertise in marketing strategies that effectively target specific industries or customer segments.
- Familiarity with technology sales tools such as Salesforce or similar CRM platforms.
- Exceptional negotiation skills with the ability to close complex deals confidently.
- Demonstrated success in business development and account management roles.
- Analytical skills to interpret market data, sales metrics, and customer insights for strategic decision‑making.
- Leadership qualities that motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive results.
