Point of Sale; POS Architect

We are seeking a POS Architect to design, govern, and modernize enterprise‑grade Point‑of‑Sale (POS) solutions across large retail store networks.

• Own end‑to‑end retail POS architecture across store lanes, self‑checkout, mobile POS, peripherals, and back‑office systems
• Possesses strong functional expertise in retail store frontline processes and back‑office operations, including but not limited to day close processes, inventory management, and tender aggregation.
• Design scalable POS architectures to support high transaction volumes, peak retail events, and offline store operations.
• Define and maintain architectural standards, reference models, and reusable design patterns for retail POS platforms.
• Architect seamless integration between POS and enterprise retail systems.
• Enable real‑time inventory visibility and consistent omnichannel customer experiences.
• Design secure in‑store payment architectures supporting multiple tender types.
• Ensure compliance with industry payment security and data privacy standards.
• Define encryption, tokenization, and secure key‑management approaches across store systems.
• Design POS solutions for low‑latency checkout, high availability, and fault tolerance at scale.
• Address store connectivity challenges using offline‑first and resilient synchronization patterns.
• Lead architectural reviews and root‑cause analysis for store and checkout performance issues.
• Provide architectural governance and oversight to delivery and partner teams.
• Review solution designs to ensure alignment with retail POS architectural standards.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate retail requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentor engineers and solution architects on retail POS best practices.
• Lead POS modernization initiatives focused on modular, API‑first, and event‑driven architectures.
• Evaluate emerging retail capabilities and operating models for architectural fit and long‑term value.

• 10+ years of IT experience with 5+ years in retail POS or store systems architecture.
• Strong understanding of retail store operations and end‑to‑end transaction life cycles.
• Deep knowledge of POS integrations, APIs, and messaging/event‑driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of retail payments and compliance requirements.
• Proven experience delivering tool‑agnostic, vendor‑neutral architectures.

• Experience supporting large, multi‑store or global retail organizations.
• Exposure to cloud, edge, and hybrid store architectures.
• Experience with POS modernization and legacy platform migration.
• Knowledge of Dev Ops, CI/CD, and observability in retail environments.
