About the Job

Assist the Arboretum Horticulture and Collections Department with the care of gardens, natural areas, greenhouses, research plots, and seasonal displays by providing watering and irrigation support at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum and Horticultural Research Center. This is a 16 hour/week position, hours are Saturday, 7am-3:30pm and Sunday, 7am-3:30pm

75% Conduct watering and irrigation support

• Ensure proper watering for pots and containers, new plantings in garden areas, and conservatory and greenhouses.

25% Perform maintenance horticultural maintenance

• Weeding, planting, removing brush, watering, pruning, spreading mulch and fertilizer utilizing various types of garden and landscaping equipment such as pruners, shears, trees saws, shovels, pitchforks, ladders, and cherry pickers.
• Pick up trash and debris; cleaning buildings, moving furniture, etc.
• Loading and unloading trucks.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather, climb 8-foot ladders, and be able to lift 50 pounds for extended periods of time.

Pay Range: $18.00 - $20.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
