Fairview is hiring a Nursing Station Technician (NST) for our Med/Surg 7B unit at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN.

This position will work 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the evening (3 pm–11:30 pm) shift. The position will also work every other weekend rotation.

This 22‑bed unit provides care for adult patients undergoing thoracic surgery, urology surgery, vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, general surgery, and those with cystic fibrosis or general medicine needs.

Day and evening shift: 7–8 patients. Night shift: 11 patients.

The Nursing Station Technician position delivers direct patient care and is cross‑trained to Health Unit Coordinator duties.

• Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding.
• Maintaining unit desk area functions including answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts, and ordering tests.
• Setting up and maintaining patient rooms.
• Ordering and stocking of supplies.

• Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.

• Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
• Six months of recent direct‑care experience in a long‑term, home care or acute care setting (e.g., Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician).
• Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program.
• Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.

• Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
