Fairview is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our ICU – Cardiovascular Department at our M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. We care for patients who have had coronary artery bypass, valve replacement and transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair, and heart and lung transplant. The CVICU also handles patients with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension and cardiac arrest.

We apply extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intraortic balloon pumps (IABP), and Swan‑Ganz catheters routinely. Our complex patient population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, management of organ failure, maintenance of systemic perfusion, and high technical skills. This unit has a low nurse‑to‑patient ratio and resource nurses on unit.

This position will be working 0.6 FTE (48 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. The position will also work every third weekend.

• Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborate with patient, family, and other health team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
• Develop an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively and respectfully with the patient, family, and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership‑based health care.
• Demonstrate the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promote a culture of evidence‑based practice (EBP).

• MN RN licensure.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience:
  
  18 months of RN Cardiac ICU experience or 3 years of any RN ICU experience.

• BSN or higher.
• Previous CVICU experience.
• Certification in related specialty highly desired.
• Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty highly preferred.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire.
