Job Overview
The Nursing Station Technician on the 39‑bed Oncology unit will help adult patients with oncologic malignancies. Our focus is adult gynecology, oncology, colorectal, and plastic surgery patients. Our services include surgical care, chemotherapy, and blood administration. We manage complex medication and infusion therapies, and care for patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic surgeries, procedures, and interventions on the unit. This dynamic team works 0.9 FTE (72 hours per 2‑week pay period) on 12‑hour overnight shifts (7 pm‑7:30 am) with every third weekend rotation.
Job Duties- Patient care tasks such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feeding.
- Maintaining unit desk area functions: answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts, and ordering tests.
- Setting up and maintaining patient rooms.
- Ordering and stocking supplies.
- / NA / HUC.
- Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. OnTrack participants need to acquire the certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
- Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview‑sponsored Nursing Assistant program.
- Six months of recent direct care experience in a long‑term, home‑care, or acute‑care setting. (Appropriate roles may include Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant, or Emergency Room Technician)
- Current enrollment in an LPN, RN, or Nurse Practitioner program and completion of one semester of clinical rotation within the program.
- Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech.
- Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experience.
