Registered Nurse (RN) – Cardiovascular (CV) ICU

Fairview Health Services is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at the M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – East Bank location in Minneapolis, MN. The unit cares for patients who have undergone coronary artery bypass, valve replacement, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, aortic arch repair, and heart and lung transplant, as well as those with decompensated heart failure, adult congenital heart defects, cardiogenic shock, advanced pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac arrest.

We routinely use extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), ventricular assist devices (VAD), intra‑aortic balloon pumps (IABP), and Swan‑Ganz catheters. The population requires hemodynamic monitoring, critical medication management, organ‑failure management, systemic perfusion maintenance, and high technical skills. This unit has a low nurse‑to‑patient ratio and resource nurses on unit.

This position is 0.75 FTE (60 hours every two weeks). Shift length will be 12 hours on the night shift. The RN will also work every third weekend.

• Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.
• Collaborate with patient, family, and other health‑team members to develop a nursing plan as part of an integrated, comprehensive plan of care.
• Develop an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition, and other relevant needs.
• Evaluate care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively and respectfully with the patient, family, and members of the health‑care team within and across care settings to promote partnership‑based health care.
• Demonstrate the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways, and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promote a culture of evidence‑based practice (EBP).

• MN RN licensure.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least 18 months of RN Cardiac ICU experience or 3 years of any RN ICU experience.

• BSN or higher preferred.
• Previous CVICU experience.
• Certification in related specialty desired.
• American Association of Critical Care Nursing certification or related specialty preferred.

• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification obtained within 6 months of hire.

Salary range: $93,500.00 – $. Pay determined by skills, knowledge, education, experience, and market conditions. Fairview prioritizes pay equity and internal team equity when making an offer. Sign‑on bonus, if eligible, will be honored per approved bonus program.
