The Substance Use Disorder Youth Coordinator leads community partnerships, youth engagement, and program coordination for culturally specific SUD prevention and wellness initiatives. This role supports grant activities including coalition development, youth advisory activities, community outreach, and implementation of culturally grounded programs that promote wellness, harm reduction, and substance use prevention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Partnership & Coalition Coordination
  • Identify, establish, and maintain partnerships with community organizations.
  • Support coalition development, including defining roles, meeting schedules, and decision‑making processes.
  • Coordinate communication and collaboration among internal staff and external partners.
Youth & Community Engagement
  • Recruit, convene, and support a Youth Advisory Council.
  • Conduct outreach to elders, community leaders, and youth‑serving organizations.
  • Facilitate youth and elder participation in culturally specific workshops, camps, and community events.
  • Support development of culturally appropriate youth consent processes.
Program & Event Coordination
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate meetings, trainings, and community events.
  • Organize Community Information Sessions, youth camps, digital storytelling activities, and cultural programming.
  • Coordinate ongoing cultural activities, including weekly drum group and ceremonies.
Culturally Specific Prevention & Education
  • Support delivery of harm reduction and opioid prevention education through culturally specific contractors and partners.
  • Engage youth in the development of culturally relevant prevention messaging and stigma‑reduction activities.
  • Support youth‑led creation of art‑based and digital prevention materials.
Program Development & Reporting Support
  • Collect and summarize community and youth feedback.
  • Assist with readiness planning and identification of service gaps.
  • Support collaboration with elders, youth, and public health partners.
  • Support grant reporting requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in community engagement, youth programming, and/or program coordination.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse community partners, including elders and youth.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating meetings, events, or community‑based initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s Degree
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native communities.
  • Familiarity with culturally responsive programming, prevention, or public health initiatives.
  • Experience conducting mixed methods research.
