In 2024, we served over 6.8 million free meals – the largest amount in our organization’s history.

Position Summary

Loaves & Fishes is seeking a Grants Manager to ensure the fundraising success of the Advancement Team. The grant manager is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of grants and funder relationships in support of organizing funding priorities. The Grants Manager cares about food insecurity and barriers to food access in our community. They are passionate about engaging foundations, corporations, and government entities to support our work to ensure we can continue providing free meals to our families, friends, and neighbors.

Essential

Functions Grants Management
  • Craft compelling grant proposals to prospective and current funders to illustrate the work of Loaves & Fishes and the need for free, healthy meals in our community.
  • Work closely with the Leadership Team to determine the current funding needs of the organization for grant proposals.
  • Report on all grants in a timely manner and collaborate with the Leadership Team and Operations Team to provide accurate status updates on all goals, activities, and objectives.
  • Coordinate with the Leadership Team to provide budgets and other financial documentation for grant proposals.
  • Lead site visits for current and prospective funders.
  • Compile and update necessary attachments to accompany grant proposals.
  • Research prospective funders and evaluate funding opportunities through LOI’s and other communication.
  • Manage the grants calendar with information on upcoming deadlines and the grants status tracker to monitor outstanding proposals and grant requests.
  • Steward current funders through written communication, events, mailings, and more to build positive relationships and trust with our partners.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and opportunities as well as current trends in fundraising.
  • Exercise discretion in determining proposal content, messaging and approach within established organizational goals and funder requirements.
Grant Reporting, Invoicing & Compliance
  • Serve as the primary owner of grant reporting, invoicing, and compliance submissions for public and private funders.
  • Manage the full lifecycle of grant reporting and compliance activities, proactively resolving reporting gaps or compliance issues.
  • Compile and translate program, operations, and financial data provided by internal teams into funder-required report and invoice formats.
  • Track reporting and billing deadlines; coordinate with internal stakeholders to obtain required data and resolve reporting gaps.
  • Act as the primary liaison with funders regarding reporting, invoicing, documentation, and compliance questions.
  • Responsible for compiling, submitting, and maintaining grant documentation.
Advancement Team Support
  • Assist in writing and editing for other projects within the Advancement Team including the annual Impact Report, newsletters, and more.
  • Support the Advancement Team with events as needed throughout the year.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Advancement.
Education and Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Experience: One to three years’ experience in grant writing. Must have excellent computer skills, high degree of proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
