Overview
Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota (BikeMN) engages people, provides education, and advocates for safe biking and walking for all Minnesotans.
Location: Rochester, MN
Schedule: Part-time, 15–20 hours/week; flexible schedule with some evenings and weekends
Compensation: $23.33/hour; benefit eligible
Growth: Potential to grow into a full-time position
Responsibilities- Organizational Capacity Support (30%)
- Collaborate with We Bike Rochester’s volunteer Board to set goals and tactics
- Facilitate board and committee meetings, including agendas, task tracking, and follow-up
- Engage members via email, social media, and Slack
- Support fundraising through memberships, grants, and sponsor ships
- Advocacy (30%)
- Build relationships with community members and advocates and connect them with elected leadership
- Attend City of Rochester and Olmsted County meetings (1–4 per month, often evenings)
- Coordinate with city, county, school district, nonprofit, and business partners
- Track and communicate progress of Rochester’s Active Transportation Plan
- Document trail and street infrastructure, highlighting successes and safety concerns
- Communicate active transportation goals through media, social platforms, and op-eds
- Maintain partnerships with neighborhood associations, environmental groups, and outdoor recreation organizations
- Programs & Events (40%)
- Coordinate community rides (2–4 per month)
- Support annual member appreciation and outreach events
- Organize quarterly multigenerational events
- Assist with pop-up fix-it events, especially along the Douglas State Trail
- Manage Med City Meander and Rochester Fest rides
- Collaborate on education programs, including Adult Learn-to-Ride and occasional youth events
- Develop and maintain Rochester’s Bicycle Benefits program
- Promote and support the Rochester location of the Minneapolis Cargo Bike Library
- Commitment to safe active transportation
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Experience with volunteer coordination and fundraising
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Experience in active transportation planning, advocacy, or education
- Experience working with diverse communities
- Proficiency in a language other than English
