Part-time Youth Programs Coordinator
Centro Tyrone Guzman is a multi‑service non‑profit serving low‑income Latine families in Minnesota. The Youth Development Coordinator role is part of the Youth Department, reporting to the Raices Program Administrator.
Position Details- Reports to:
Raices Program Manager - Salary: $24/hr
- Starting date:
Open until filled - Hours/Week:
Part‑time, 20 hours per week (may include evenings and weekends)
The youth programs (Raices and Be@School) provide holistic in‑school and out‑of‑school support for Latine youth grades 6–12, emphasizing academic support, cultural identity, health and wellness, and leadership development.
Job Responsibilities- Logistics coordination and implementation of activities and processes.
- Facilitate or co‑facilitate group sessions with youth and/or families.
- Provide positive behavior guidance for program participants.
- Maintain positive communication with coworkers, parents, guardians and community.
- Keep accurate, up‑to‑date records of participants (attendance, evaluation surveys, etc.).
- Foster collaboration with local schools, universities and community organizations.
- Make appropriate internal/external referrals for participants/families.
- Maintain private and confidential data per state and federal law.
- Maintain a supportive, inclusive and culturally responsive social environment.
- Maintain clean, safe environment (building, playground, vans, etc.).
- Assist in facilitating family projects and events.
- Assist the Administrator in preparing reports for funders and stakeholders.
- Provide transportation for youth participants as needed.
- Participate in professional development activities as assigned.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Support families to engage with MPS School Board by building awareness of board roles and opportunities.
- Equip families with information and tools to understand school and program options.
- Engage with Minnesota Literacy Coalition to support staff and families.
- Support staff and families exploring Innovation Zones as a systems solution.
- Distribute GMS K‑12 Family Resources and help measure effectiveness.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Strong time‑management skills.
- Experience in sexual health education preferred.
- Commitment to Centro Tyrone Guzman’s mission, vision, and program goals.
- Experience working with Latine families and an in‑depth understanding of Latine culture.
- Positive and open attitude towards children.
- In‑depth understanding/experience working with LGBTQ+ Latine community.
- Demonstrated understanding of Latine immigrant issues.
- Commitment to working with Latine communities in a culturally supportive environment.
- Knowledgeable about local community resources.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; public speaking in Spanish and English.
- Advanced technology skills (e.g., MS Office).
- Ability to gather updated information for PowerPoint presentations.
- Availability for evenings, nights during academic year and weekends for special events.
- Provide transportation to participants as needed.
- Position subject to background check and requires valid Minnesota driver’s license and good driving record.
