Maintenance Technician

Summary

Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, routine maintenance and repair to pneumatic, electro-mechanical, hydraulic and CNC machines.

• Support the SPG safety program.
• Actively promote and drive a culture of safety.
• Perform and document routine preventative maintenance.

• Performs and documents routine preventative maintenance on all machines per schedule.
• Replenishes liquids as needed to maintain prescribed operating levels.
• Checks and repairs broken lines and hoses and valves as needed; determines and reports location of leak to supervisor for repair scheduling.
• Cleans the screws and barrels on the presses and checks them for wear.
• Reports out‑of‑tolerance conditions to supervisor for repair or replacement.
• Trouble‑shoots machine problems and reports findings to supervisor.
• Repairs machines following supervisors’ guidelines.
• Replaces viewing windows in presses as needed.
• Repairs or overhauls portable equipment or components removed from machine.
• Wires molds prior to installation into a press.
• Assigns daily work to subordinates.
• Processes Maintenance reports.
• Maintains and orders proper level of maintenance supplies.
• Trains employees on new procedures.
• Assists manager with reviews as needed as well as disciplinary action.
• Handles personnel issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Hydraulic and electrical knowledge is required for this position.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
