WR Medical is small medical device manufacturer in Maplewood, MN, producing and distributing Class II medical devices such as neuropathy diagnostic equipment, Therabath paraffin wax baths, and paraffin wax. The Machinist/Maintenance Technician will be responsible for machining production, maintaining and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, building maintenance, supporting manufacturing operations, computerized documentation of above tasks, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.
Hours8am-4:30pm M-F;
Non-Exempt hourly position
- Set up, operate, and adjust machining equipment to manufacture precision components used in medical devices (includes hand tools, manual equipment, mills, and lathes, as well as a Haas VF2 CNC Mill).
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, GD&T, work instructions, and routings to produce parts that meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Perform in-process inspections using calibrated measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators) and document results per quality requirements.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, ISO 13485, and FDA QSR requirements, including accurate documentation and traceability.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S and safety standards.
- Maintain inventory and complete production orders electronically in Business Central software.
- Support engineering-led machining process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce manufacturing costs, and maintain compliance with quality and regulatory standards
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) and minor repairs on manufacturing, packaging, and inspection equipment used in medical device production as prescribed by Engineering.
- Troubleshoot simple issues on mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Document maintenance and repair activities in the CMMS section of the QT9 electronic quality management system.
- Perform routine/minor maintenance and repairs for building systems including HVAC, compressed air, plumbing, lighting, doors, and basic electrical systems (e.g. changing oil, replacing worn fittings or used filters, changing light bulbs etc.).
- Coordinate larger repairs or facilities updates that require an expert or licensed professional.
- Maintain clean and safe walkways around the building’s exterior.
- Perform all work in compliance with GMP, ISO 13485, FDA QSR (21 CFR 820), OSHA, and company safety and quality requirements.
- High School diploma or GED
- Two-year technical degree is preferred
5+ years experience (including education) in a combination of the following:
- Using a Haas VF2 or other CNC Mill
- Machining
- Performing prescribed maintenance tasks
- Troubleshooting/repairing equipment
- Demonstrated experience using tools and maintaining equipment.
- Ability to PDF and upload documentation into an online quality management system, QT9.
- Ability to use electronic maintenance plans and logs.
- Ability to read and understand equipment manuals for troubleshooting and maintenance activities.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings/prints/schematics.
- Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting basics.
- Safety standards and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Good documentation practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Highly organized.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely and effectively
- Authorization to work in the US without restrictions or sponsorship
