We’re looking for a highly skilled Tool & Die Manager to oversee daily operations of the Tool & Die department, ensuring that all tools, dies, and precision parts are built, maintained, and repaired to the highest standards. This role will lead a talented team of toolmakers and machinists, driving quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement across all projects.
What You’ll Do- Lead & develop the team – Supervise and mentor toolmakers, machinists, and support staff. Assign work, set priorities, and foster a collaborative, safety-focused environment.
- Oversee tooling design & fabrication – Manage the design, build, and maintenance of tools, dies, and fixtures. Review and approve designs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Support production & engineering – Partner with production teams to meet tooling needs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure tools are available to meet manufacturing deadlines.
- Manage tooling inventory & budgets – Track tooling materials and inventory, control costs, and forecast future needs to keep operations running smoothly.
- Ensure quality & compliance – Maintain strict adherence to quality standards, tolerances, and safety regulations (ISO, ASTM, OSHA).
- Drive process improvement – Implement lean manufacturing techniques, reduce lead times, and identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and minimize waste.
- Document & report – Maintain accurate tooling records, reports, and project documentation to ensure communication and accountability.
- Experience:
- 7+ years as a Tool & Die Maker in a manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Technical skills:
- Strong understanding of tool & die design, fabrication, and repair
- Proficient with manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM)
- CAD/CAM experience required
- Leadership & communication:
- Proven ability to lead and develop a technical team
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Quality & safety focus:
- In-depth knowledge of precision measurement tools and quality standards
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment
